BUY WITH GOOD QUESTIONS
Your next boat,
thought through.
Ten practical questions to help you choose a boat and understand the next steps.
A practical editorial checklist, not a statistically ranked top ten. Model catalogs, dated dealer listings and a confirmed quote are different evidence. Sources checked October 2, 2026; confirm current written terms and the exact boat's equipment with the dealer.
Start a model comparison01Which Cobalt fits the way I want to boat?
Start with your usual crew, main activity, budget and where the boat will live. Compare two or three exact models for cruising, entertaining, surfing or overnight needs, then review propulsion, dimensions and the layout in person. A reasoned shortlist is a starting point for a walk-through or demo; it is not a performance or comfort guarantee.
What matters most on your lake day, how many people usually join you, and what storage constraints do you have?

02What will the boat actually cost?
Dealer-feed prices are advertised asking prices for the listed boat. Request Price means Village Marina must provide a quote. Request a written, itemized quote for the exact stock number confirming installed equipment, taxes, title/registration, dealer charges, and any trailer or delivery. Confirm what is included and the final purchase terms with the dealership.
Which stock number, registration/delivery location and optional equipment should the quote cover?

03Is it available, and when could I get it?
Use the exact listing status and its checked date. Pending and unknown are different from dealer-listed in stock, and every status, location and delivery date needs confirmation before you travel. A Cobalt model in the collection does not mean that configuration is ready to deliver.
Which stock number are you considering, and when do you need it?

04Which engine or propulsion setup should I choose?
Compare the exact model year and variant. Engine choices, draft, weight, platform access and docking equipment differ. Separate manufacturer options from equipment installed on a stock boat. Twin 430 hp engines mean 430 hp per engine and 860 hp combined; horsepower alone does not establish speed, fuel burn or operating cost.
Are cruising, surfing or docking your priority, and which year/variant are you considering?

05Can I wakesurf behind it?
Check the exact Surf variant and its factory surf system. A tower, ballast or similar model name does not establish wakesurf capability for an ordinary sterndrive or outboard boat. Cobalt's current Surf Class page says R33 Surf and R35 Surf do not use hard ballast tanks. Verify the selected year, propulsion and operating manual, and ask for a Surf-specific demo.
Which boat/year do you mean, and are you planning wakesurfing or wakeboarding/tubing?

06Will it fit my slip, lift, garage or trailer?
Use the configured boat's complete length, beam, clearance height, loaded draft and loaded weight, plus the equipment's usable dimensions and ratings. Include platform, engines, tower/hardtop, fuel, water, gear and trailer where relevant. R35 standard-platform LOA is 35 ft 4 in; the extended-platform figure is 36 ft 8 in. Catalog dry weight is not loaded lift or towing weight. Published dimensions can screen a choice, but cannot establish safe fit.
What are the clear usable dimensions, lowest depth and equipment ratings, and which boat configuration will you use?

07How many people can come, and does the layout work for us?
Check persons and load limits separately from seats and lounge surfaces. Keep Yacht Certified as that label; it does not mean unlimited passengers. Comfortable seating, boarding routes, shade and storage need a stock-specific walk-through. The comparison includes qualified 2026 family deck drawings where verified, not a promise that today's selected boat has that exact layout or equipment.
What is your usual crew, largest intended group and most important boarding or seating need?

08Does it have a bathroom or somewhere to sleep?
A head compartment, an installed toilet and a sleeping cabin are separate features. Confirm the actual boat's toilet system, berth, privacy, water/holding tanks and any climate-control equipment. An optional toilet, generator or air conditioner is not confirmed installed equipment; a sunpad or head compartment does not prove overnight accommodation.

09Can I finance it or trade in my boat?
Use Village Marina's approved credit application to start the financing process. Loan terms, eligibility and approval depend on the lender and application; no current APR or guaranteed down payment is quoted here. Trade value requires an appraisal of the boat, engines, hours and condition. An application or appraisal inquiry is not an approval or guaranteed offer. Keep credit and financial details out of Gilligan chat.

10What does ownership involve, including service and warranty?
Plan for fuel, insurance, a slip/storage, routine maintenance, seasonal care, cleaning and repairs. Request configuration-specific estimates rather than a universal annual cost. Cobalt's current summary separates 10-year hull/deck structural, 5-year component and 3-year gelcoat coverage; engine coverage is manufacturer-specific and all coverage is subject to written terms. A used boat does not automatically start a new warranty term: verify original in-service date, remaining coverage and transfer requirements/fees. Service Assist is up to $100 for an eligible documented claim, not unlimited free towing. Confirm routine versus warranty service requirements with the exact engine/manual and dealer.
